Helen Steering the MCP Ship!
Promoting from Within
MCP has seen a lot of growth just recently and we are always delighted to share when we have a new recruit joining us. But we aren’t just hiring new talent, we are also promoting from within. In this article we would like to focus on Helen Edge, who has recently become our Deputy Head of Operations.
Helen has worked with MCP for 12 years, joining us initially as Training Co-ordinator on a temporary contract to cover maternity leave. After moving into the permanent role of Office Co-ordinator 12 months later, her initial responsibilities were to provide administrative support for the consultancy and operations departments. It was very clear, very quickly, how well Helen would adapt to this role and soon became an integral part of our close-knit team. Over the years Helen has taken on more responsibility regarding operations, systems, management training and recently instigated our business transformation programme. This programme is essential in supporting the growth of MCP, to ensure that we all follow the correct procedures and processes, in a uniform way, which will provide business transparency and a solid foundation for improvement and further growth.
As the teams expands at MCP HQ, so does Helen’s responsibilities, so it was with great pleasure that we offered her this recent promotion. Of course, this isn’t enough for Helen, she always strives to be the best she can be. To support her in her new role, with direction from our Director Tim Robson, she has embarked on a Leadership and Management Level 5 Diploma, which is the equivalent of a 2nd year degree. Helen has enrolled with Lincoln College to complete this course which will take a minimum of 2 years. The course covers all aspects of operational management from leadership and people management, strategic planning and budgets, through to project management and managing change.
